Diamond Cascade Base Game and Features

Diamond Cascade is a 5-reel slot with 50 fixed pay lines. Winning combinations are formed when 3 or more of the same symbols land from left to right, starting from the leftmost reel.

The minimum bet available here is £.€0.20 per spin and the maximum bet available is £.€240 per spin, with a wide variety of betting options in between the two. This game has a theoretical RTP of 96.06% and a max win cap of 8,000x.

In terms of symbols, the highest-paying regular symbol here is the Red Diamond, followed by the Blue, Pink, Green, Purple, and Yellow Diamonds. Low-paying symbols fall to Teal, Pink, Green, Purple, and Yellow smaller Diamonds. Wilds substitute for all other symbols except Scatters.

Ante Bet

Before you can begin spinning, you will be given the option to activate the Ante Bet feature. Choosing to activate this feature will increase your current bet by 25%.

Colour Tumble Feature

In the base game, all High and Low-paying symbols will change their background colour with each spin. Once active, the Colour Tumble feature activates a Pays Anywhere mechanic.

When a minimum of 5 symbols form a win with the same background colour either Horizontally or Vertically, they will explode and disappear. All remaining symbols will drop down to the bottom of the reel set, and all empty positions are replaced by new symbols via a Cascade.

The Colour Tumble feature will only begin if there is at least 1 background colour cluster present on the reels after any paying symbol win. The tumble sequence will continue until there are no more background colour clusters present on the reels.

All symbols that explode as part of the Colour Tumble feature will be collected and stored in a special Meter. For every 20 symbols collected, a x1 Multiplier is added to a Global Win Multiplier.

The Global Win Multiplier is applied to the total win amount that resulted from the same base game spin after all colour tumbles are complete. After this, the Global Win Multiplier will reset back to x1.

Diamond Cascade Free Spins

Landing 3 or more Scatters across the reels during the base game triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 15 Free Spins.

During Free Spins, all symbols collected as part of the Colour Tumble feature will increase the Global Win Multiplier, which does not reset between Free Spins.

Landing 3, 4, or 5 Scatters during this time will award an additional +5, +10, or +15 Free Spins respectively.

Diamond Cascade: Our Verdict

Diamond Cascade did little to wow us at first, but it soon glistened in its own unique way. Pragmatic Play are really good at bringing a new mechanic or feature into the mix, which is exactly what they’ve done here.

The Colour Tumble feature is a little confusing at first. You’re looking at the reel set wondering if you’ve imagined the changes in the symbol backgrounds, but it’s all part of a bigger picture.

Triggering the Colour Tumble feature requires a number of symbols to match in background colour. This is something we’ve not come across that often, if at all, and all your attention is diverted to what’s going on behind a symbol. Wins form anywhere on the reel set during this feature, upping the potential to hit bigger wins and reach extreme heights on the Global Win Multiplier.

More of the same can be seen in the Free Spins round, but this time the Global Win Multiplier does not reset between spins, making your chances of hitting the desired max win cap of 8,000x much more achievable.

Is Diamond Cascade Pragmatic Play’s best work? We can think of a few of their titles that shine brighter, but it’s a great choice for players who like to play with new mechanics and features, which Pragmatic Play does so well.
