Banana Rush Slot Review
A gorilla leans over the top of a bamboo reel frame, arms draped across the crossbeam, watching the reels like he’s waiting to be fed. Behind him, a sunlit jungle clearing, mossy stones, trailing vines, and a weathered stone wall glowing green through the foliage.
Play’n GO have built a jungle slot here in the vein of Rainforest Magic and Rocco Gallo, but the animals aren’t where the money is. The paytable tops out at a modest 40.00 for five wilds, and everything worth chasing arrives as fruit the gorilla hoards until something collects it. That’s an unusual shape for a 5×4, 10 fixed payline game running at 96.2% RTP and mid volatility.
Everything worth having in this game runs through the bananas, and the gorilla is the reason why. It’s a simple frame with a lot of fruit stacked on top.
How the Base Game Pays
Wins pay left to right across the ten fixed lines, with only the highest combination counted on each line and everything else added together at the end of the round. It’s standard line-pay behaviour, and the game doesn’t complicate it. Symbol wins need a complete combination with no gaps, from the leftmost reel onwards.
The symbol set splits into jungle animals and card royals. Monkey and Hippo lead the animal tier, with Crocodile and Parrot a step behind, then A and K ahead of the Q, J and 10.
- Monkey, Hippo: 3.00 / 7.50 / 25.00 for three, four and five of a kind
- Crocodile, Parrot: 2.00 / 5.00 / 10.00
- A, K: 1.50 / 2.50 / 5.00
- Q, J, 10: 1.00 / 1.50 / 3.00
- Wild: 5.00 / 10.00 / 40.00
The wild substitutes for every symbol except the scatter, and it’s the richest symbol on the grid. Scatters don’t pay as symbols at all. Their whole job is triggering the feature round, which is where the bananas start to matter.
Two pace options sit alongside the standard spin. Holding the spacebar for a second and a half kicks in Hyper Spin, which speeds the reels up immensely and slows back down whenever a feature activates, and a Fast Play toggle shortens every round the same way. Auto Play runs consecutive spins at your current settings and switches itself off if the balance drops too low to continue.
One small mercy: if the balance can’t cover the next spin at your chosen level, the game drops the bet to the highest affordable size rather than stopping the session. The reduction is one-way. Wins won’t push it back up to where it started.
REWARD Spins and the Modifier Wheel
Land three or more Scatters anywhere and REWARD Spins begin. The count scales with the trigger. Before the round starts, a spin of the Modifier Wheel hands you one random modifier.
- 3 Scatters: 9 REWARD Spins
- 4 Scatters: 12 REWARD Spins
- 5 Scatters: 15 REWARD Spins
The round runs at the same bet and the same number of lines as the spin that triggered it. That bet is locked for the duration, so there’s no re-staking mid-feature.
The Three Modifiers
- Win Multiplier Modifier: increases the total value of all wins during the round
- Banana Modifier: lower value Bananas are replaced by higher value Bananas
- Banana Basket Modifier: Banana Baskets become more common on the reels
Each one attacks the round from a different angle. The multiplier lifts whatever you already win, the basket modifier puts more collectors on screen, and the Banana Modifier changes the size of what there is to collect.
Bananas run from 1x the initial bet up to a 100x top value, in eight steps: 1x, 2x, 3x, 5x, 10x, 20x, 50x and 100x. Swapping a 1x fruit for a 100x one changes what a basket collect is worth by a factor of a hundred.
The round doesn’t stop at one modifier, either. Collect four Banana Baskets during REWARD Spins and you’re awarded more spins plus another spin of the wheel. If you already hold the base version of a modifier, the wheel can hand you the upgrade instead.
Upgrades replace rather than stack. The base modifier switches off when its upgrade arrives, so you’re never running two versions of the same effect at once.
The Banana Basket
The basket itself lands in the base game and in REWARD Spins. Wherever it appears, it collects every Banana on the reels and pays their combined value instantly. That makes it the round’s payout valve.
During REWARD Spins it doubles as the progress marker for the wheel. Each basket is doing two jobs at once: banking whatever fruit is on screen and stepping you towards the next modifier.
The Gorilla’s Hold & Win
When Bananas land without a basket to collect them, the Gorilla takes them instead. Every time the reels stop, there’s a small chance his stashed haul triggers the Hold & Win feature. There’s no symbol to chase and nothing you can do to force it.
The bonus opens with three re-spins. Only Bananas land while it runs; every other symbol stays off the reels until the feature ends. Each Banana that lands resets the re-spins back to three, so the round keeps going as long as the fruit keeps coming.
The target is a full screen. Filling the reels with Bananas awards 4,000x the total bet on top of the combined value of every Banana on the grid, which is where the 100x Bananas do their heaviest work. A grid that fills slowly still pays every fruit it holds when the re-spins run dry.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.2/10
This is a game about watching a gorilla’s stash. Most of the time you’re spinning a plain ten-line base game waiting for the fruit economy to kick in, and the reason to pick it over plainer jungle slots is that everything you collect feeds something: the gorilla’s pile, the basket’s payout, the wheel’s next upgrade.
At its best, REWARD Spins is a genuinely escalating round, because every four baskets makes the one you’re playing better. The weakness is that the Hold & Win bonus, the loudest thing in the game, arrives on pure chance with no way to build towards it, and the base game won’t carry a session on its own.
It’s one for players who enjoy collection systems and don’t mind a quiet wait between features, and mid volatility keeps that wait fair. Anyone chasing big line wins or frequent bonuses will find the jungle a bit sparse. Feed the gorilla long enough, though, and he does eventually pay you back.
