Dead Man’s Fingers Slot Review
A skeleton slumps in a rusted gibbet cage beneath the palm trees, a chained chest at its feet and a black-hulled galleon riding at anchor in the cove. That’s the tropical idyll of G.Games‘ pirate slot, and it’s a calmer picture than the game deserves, because Dead Man’s Fingers puts almost all of its money on a single collect mechanic and treats its free spins round as an afterthought. If that balance sounds lopsided, it is, and it’s also the best thing about the game.
It runs at 95.15% RTP on the medium-high side of volatility, across a 5×4 grid with 25 fixed paylines. The hit rate sits at 17.69%, which works out to a winning spin roughly once every six. The galleon isn’t going anywhere, and neither is the chest.
Base Game & Features
The base game runs on those 25 fixed paylines, with wins evaluated across the grid and simultaneous wins across multiple paylines added together. Only the highest combination on any single payline counts. It’s a conventional setup, and the grid’s extra row gives it a little more room than the usual 5×3. What gives the base game its character sits on top of the paylines rather than in them.
Quickhit Money
Quickhit Money symbols can appear on reels one to four, each carrying a cash multiplier of the stake. They don’t pay on their own. The pay comes when the Dead Hand collect symbol lands on reel five together with at least one Quickhit Money symbol, at which point every Quickhit symbol in view pays its value immediately.
The sequence matters more than it might look. A reel stacked with Quickhit symbols pays nothing while the fifth reel stays empty; the Dead Hand with nothing to collect pays nothing either. Both halves have to arrive on the same spin, which is what makes the fifth reel the one worth watching.
Each Quickhit symbol carries one value from the ladder below, in multiples of the stake:
- 1x
- 2x
- 3x
- 5x
- 6x
- 8x
- 10x
- 12x
- 15x
- 18x
- 20x
- 50x
- 100x
- 200x
- 1000x, marked as The Grand Prize
The ladder’s shape tells you where the game’s money sits. Eleven of the fifteen rungs are worth 20x or less, so a typical collect is a modest lift rather than a rescue. The step from 200x to 1000x is the widest on the board, and the Grand Prize is the only rung above it.
There’s no limit on how many Quickhit symbols can be collected in a single spin. If three land with the Dead Hand, all three pay, and the values stack rather than take the highest. That’s the mechanic’s real teeth: a busy grid plus a collect is worth more than any single symbol on it.
The Dead Hand does all the deciding. Quickhit symbols without it are decoration, and a reel five without the Dead Hand is a quiet one, however many chests stack up beside it.
Wild Symbol
An octopus wild appears on reels two, three and four and substitutes for all regular symbols. That’s its whole job, and it does it without fuss. Note the gap: the wild can’t stand in for the Quickhit symbols, the Dead Hand or the scatter, so the collect mechanic stays entirely its own thing.
Its position on the middle three reels means it can only ever help complete a line across the centre of the grid. A wild on reel four flanked by matching symbols on either side is the shape it does most often, and with the grid five columns wide, the first and last reels always have to carry their own weight.
Dead Man’s Fingers Bonus Features & Free Spins
Golden Compass Free Spins
Three Golden Compass scatter symbols anywhere on the middle three reels award 10 free spins. The round uses the same 25 fixed paylines and the bet of the spin that triggered it, so nothing about the underlying game changes on entry.
Retriggers work the same way: three scatters inside the round add another 10 spins, with no stated ceiling on how many times the sequence can repeat. A lucky round can run long on the strength of it. Wins across multiple paylines in a single spin are added together, as in the base game.
What the free spins don’t do is upgrade anything. There’s no multiplier ramp, no sticky collection, no added rows. It’s the base game with the spins free, which leaves the Quickhit ladder carrying the round on its own. Whether the Dead Hand lands during free spins or paid spins, the payout logic is identical.
That makes the trigger worth sizing up honestly. Because the scatters only count on reels two, three and four, a single scatter elsewhere on the grid contributes nothing, and the three-reel window means the trigger is a narrower ask than a five-reel scatter hunt even though it needs only three symbols.
How the Pieces Fit Together
The three systems don’t overlap much. The wild works the paylines, the scatter works the spin count, and the Quickhit ladder works outside the paylines entirely, paying multipliers of the stake directly. That last part is worth being clear on: a Quickhit collect isn’t a line win and doesn’t need one either.
The maximum win potential sits at the 2,740x cap, with the Quickhit ladder’s top rung, the 1000x Grand Prize, the biggest single prize below it. With multiple symbols collectable in one spin, the theoretical ceiling for a single spin is that 2,740x cap, which is where a game with no other headline payout hides its upside.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 6.8/10
Most of your time here is spent on a sunlit beach doing very little, waiting for a skeletal hand to reach out of reel five and grab everything in sight. That collect moment is the reason to choose this game: no line win on the grid matches the jolt of watching four reels of cash values all pay at once. It’s the rare pirate slot where the treasure chest is the game rather than the scenery.
That ladder is the strength, and it’s a real one, because the values stack and the top rung sits at 1000x. The free spins are the weakness, and there’s no dressing it up: they’re the same game with the meter on free, and a retrigger is the only surprise they hold. The bonus the marketing would sell you is the one worth ignoring.
For players who enjoy a patient build towards one loud, lucrative moment, the cove is well worth a visit. Anyone who wants a bonus round with ideas of its own will find the galleon sails on without them, and honestly, the skeleton in the cage won’t miss the company.
