Merry Multipliers Dream Drop Slot Review
A lantern clock two minutes shy of midnight, fir garlands dusted with snow, stockings strung along the bottom of the reel frame: the Christmas Eve sitting room around these reels is painted with more care than the season usually gets. The gamble at the heart of Merry Multipliers Dream Drop is that a third of its grid stays frozen until you’ve earned it. Relax Gaming runs the game on a 6×7 grid whose top three rows sit locked out, with 4,096 ways to win, a total return of 94% including the Dream Drop jackpot contribution, and a ceiling of 10,000x the bet.
It joins a long Dream Drop line, sitting alongside Temple Tumble 2 Dream Drop and Dream Drop Diamonds, with Money Train Origins Dream Drop on the same network. The multipliers live on Santa’s stockings below the reels. Whether he delivers is what follows.
Base Game & Features
The grid is six columns by seven rows, but only the lower four rows are in play when you start. The top three are visible yet frozen, held in reserve for the free spins round. Wins pay across 4,096 ways in the base game.
Wins cascade. Symbols that form a win clear away and new ones drop in, and any further wins from that drop chain together within the same spin. The conveyor holds still while a cascade plays out, so its timing matters more than you’d expect.
The ways count climbs as play develops, stepping up through 5,120, 7,680 and 9,600 as locked sections open up. Every extra row in play multiplies the possible symbol combinations, which is why the number only ever moves in one direction.
A Multiplier Conveyor runs along the base of the reels, dressed as a row of Santa stockings printed with multiplier markings. It’s always active. After each spin it shifts one position from right to left, and it holds still during cascades.
The values it carries, typically x2, x3 and x5 in combination, feed the wild reel during free spins rather than the base game. In the base game the conveyor is scenery with a countdown on it: you can watch a value approach, but it doesn’t pay out until the round begins.
The wild is a gift box that substitutes for every symbol except the bonus symbol, and it pays like the top symbol when six land. The bonus symbol exists only on reels 1, 3 and 5, so triggers have to be built from those three columns. That narrows the landing patterns considerably, and it makes the conveyor’s 5 symbol a genuine second route in rather than a footnote.
Symbol pays are multiples of the total bet:
- Santa: 3x for six, 1.5x for five, 0.8x for four, 0.4x for three, 0.2x for two
- Reindeer: 1x for six, 0.6x for five, 0.4x for four, 0.2x for three
- Santa Hat, Stocking, Snowman: 0.5x for six, 0.3x for five, 0.2x for four, 0.1x for three
- Red Heart, Purple Club, Blue Diamond and Green Club baubles: 0.3x for six, 0.2x for five, 0.1x for four, 0.1x for three
- Wild (gift box): 3x for six
Those are modest numbers, and deliberately so. The real money in this game is routed through the conveyor and the locked rows, not through lining up baubles. Six Santas returns 3x the bet, which tells you the base game is a preamble rather than the point.
The premium tier is only two symbols deep, Santa and the Reindeer, and Santa is the only symbol that pays for a pair. The four baubles all pay identically, so the lower half of the paytable is effectively one row wearing four colours. The middle tier, hat, stocking and snowman, pays half of what the Reindeer does at the top end and the same as the baubles for a trio.
Merry Multipliers Dream Drop Free Spins
There are three routes into the round, and taking two of them at once pays double:
- Landing 3 bonus symbols (reels 1, 3 and 5) awards 5 free spins
- Collecting the 5 symbol from the Multiplier Conveyor awards 5 free spins
- Both landing and collecting in the same spin or cascade awards 10 free spins
- Every bonus symbol that lands, or is collected from the conveyor, during the round adds 1 extra spin
The round opens with those top three rows visible but frozen. Symbols carrying the Christmas indicator each thaw one locked symbol in the reel that contains the indicator, so progress is column by column rather than row by row. Nothing re-locks once it’s open, so the grid only ever grows, and the ways count climbs with it, which is where those 5,120 to 9,600 figures come from.
The Wild Reel and the Conveyor
Once the first two rows of locked symbols are in play, a wild reel activates. Every time an indicator symbol lands, the wild reel drops to reach the conveyor and collects the multiplier waiting there, applying it to any wins it creates.
If more than one wild reel collects a multiplier at the same time, the multipliers multiply each other, and that’s where the arithmetic gets interesting. Two stockings caught together don’t add, they compound. An x5 and an x3 collected together behave like a single x15.
There’s a cost built in. When a wild reel forms part of a win, the wild is destroyed along with the other winning symbols, and the reel stays open, refilling with regular symbols until the start of the next spin or cascade. Multipliers collected, though, stay applied to the wild reel, so a single round can stack value that later spins spend.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.2/10
This is a game about waiting for Christmas morning. The base game is quiet, the stockings below the reels mostly just inch leftward, and then the free spins arrive and the grid wakes up a column at a time until it’s nearly twice the game you started with. That slow unwrapping is the whole reason to pick it.
Its best idea is that nothing re-locks. A good round keeps every gain it makes, and two conveyor multipliers caught together compound instead of adding, so a late spin can suddenly be worth several earlier ones. Its worst is everything before that: the symbol pays are thin, and 94% back means the jackpot is costing you real return on every spin of a base game that gives you little to look at.
Patient players and Dream Drop chasers will get on with it well; anyone who wants something happening on most spins will find the wait between presents long. But the decorations are genuinely lovely, the build pays off when it pays off, and this is one of the more carefully made games the season has produced.
