Totally Reckless Slot Review
Treasure salvage has never been a careful business. The good hauls sit in bad water, and the crews who go after them are usually the ones happy to bet a boat on a rumour. Totally Reckless takes that at its word. It’s a rough, chaotic sort of maritime treasure, all anchors and coins and gems, and the artwork spends its whole time pointing upward rather than at the reels.
The studio behind it, Northern Lights Gaming, have built it on a 5×3 grid with 243 ways to win. RTP is 96.07% by default, with operator-configurable settings at 94.08%, 92.06% and 90.04%.
Volatility is High, stakes run from 0.20 to 40, and the top win is 5,000x. That’s a conservative ceiling next to most new releases. The studio’s other work reviewed here runs to Rock the Cash Bar and Max Spinwell: Time Chronicles. Add Magical Reels and that’s three. Whether five anchor colours make this more than another hold-and-win is the question the Landfall ladder has to answer.
Base Game & Features
Totally Reckless runs across five reels and three rows, with 243 ways to win paying from the leftmost reel. Hit frequency is listed at 1 in 2.73 spins.

Five anchors sit above the reels, colour-coded Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond. A scatter has to strike one of them to start the Landfall Bonus, and the colour it hits sets the level that bonus begins on.
Wild Symbols
Wilds appear in the base game only and substitute for all regular symbols. Three wilds pay 4.00 at the current bet denomination.

Charged Bet
Charged Bet is a stake option rather than something you trigger. Switching it on multiplies the current bet by 2.5x and changes what’s sitting above the reels.
- Bronze and Silver anchors are removed, making Gold the lowest level you can enter the bonus on
- Extra scatter symbols are added, raising the chance of a Landfall trigger
Charged Bet doesn’t increase ways wins or coin symbol pays. The extra stake buys a better bonus setup, not larger ordinary wins.

Totally Reckless Bonus Features
There’s one bonus round here, and every other system in the game feeds into it.
Landfall Bonus
A scatter striking an anchor starts the Landfall Bonus on that anchor’s level. It’s a respin coin collect: you begin with three respins, coins that land stick to the reels, and the counter resets to maximum whenever a coin or special symbol drops in.
The level you enter on sets the value of every coin that follows. Bronze coins are worth up to 1x. Diamond coins run from 30x to 50x each, so a level change mid-round alters the value of everything still to come.

Special Symbols
Four special symbols land during the respins alongside the coins.
- Coin Multiplier: applies x2, x3, x4 or x5 to between one and three coins on the board
- Level Upgrade: land three of them and the bonus advances one level, raising coin values and opening the next jackpot
- Extra Life: increases the maximum respin count to four and resets the counter to that maximum
- Mystery Symbol: reveals as a coin, an Extra Life or a Level Upgrade
Jackpots
Four fixed jackpots sit above the reels, and which of them are live depends on the level you’re playing.
- Silver: 10x
- Gold: 50x
- Platinum: 500x
- Diamond: 5,000x
Silver, Gold and Platinum are filled by landing coloured gem symbols. The Diamond jackpot is filled by landing coins. Only one unlocked jackpot can be awarded per bonus, so once one drops, that side of the round is finished.
Super Landfall Bonus
The Super Landfall Bonus is an enhanced version of the same round, holding more coins and more special symbols. That density gives Level Upgrade, Extra Life and the multipliers more chances to land before the respins run out.

Buy Bonus
Both rounds can be bought straight from the base game. A purchased bonus starts on a random level rather than one you pick.
- Landfall Bonus: 100x bet
- Super Landfall Bonus: 200x bet

Our Honest Verdict
The base game keeps busy without paying much for it. Plenty of spins do something; few of them amount to anything.
Our first natural Landfall arrived on Silver and fizzled politely. Charged Bet sorted that out by making Gold the floor, and the round that stuck was a bought Super that climbed from Platinum into Diamond, coin values stepping up as the third upgrade landed.
Extra Life did the rescuing when the respins ran short. We took the Silver and Gold jackpots and never got near the top one, and 5,000x is a modest ceiling however clearly the route to it is drawn.
Worth your time if you like hold-and-win rounds that can improve while they’re running. Landfall is the entire game, though, and there isn’t enough elsewhere to change anyone’s mind about respin bonuses.
Reckless by name; reckless mainly in how hard you choose to chase the anchors.
Overall Rating: 7.1/10
