About Northern Lights Gaming

Before founding Northern Lights Gaming, Andrew Goodale was running the games studio responsible for Rainbow Riches and the Monopoly slots range, two of the most enduring titles in British gaming history.

Launched in 2017 with dual bases in Manchester and Stockholm, Northern Lights assembled a small team carrying over 50 years of collective experience drawn from Barcrest, Scientific Games, and Williams Interactive.

The studio spent its first year locking down partnerships, becoming the first independent studio to develop on the Yggdrasil Game Server via YGG Masters.

This was later followed by a Microgaming distribution deal (now under Games Global).

Northern Lights’ debut title Rocky’s Gold arrived in 2018, and the catalogue has since grown to 40+ releases, including God of Fire, Bison Boom Link and Win, and Golden Stallion Ultraways, which introduced the studio’s own Ultraways mechanic with 196,608 ways to win.

The modern catalogue’s centrepiece is the Unusual Suspects franchise, a gritty crime-themed series that’s become genuinely rare in iGaming: characters players recognise and request by name.

The original launched in 2023 with Sticky Wild Frames, followed by More Unusual Suspects in 2024 with a Vault Jackpot worth up to 15,000x, and Wanted: Unusual Suspects later that year, bringing a Cash Collect mechanic to a Wild West setting.

The RTPs across the catalogue sit around 92-96%, volatility spans medium to high, and every title is optimised for portrait mobile play.

“Love the Unusual Suspects games. The whole vibe of them is just different to everything else in the lobby and the Big Boss Free Spins is one of my favourite bonus rounds right now. All Star Knockout is a classic too. Northern Lights are quietly building one of the best catalogues going.” Scotty T, Fruity Slots Streamer

“Check the RTP before you load one of these. Northern Lights games sit anywhere between 92% and 96%, so the version your casino stocks makes a real difference, and with volatility running medium to high, I’d take a bigger bankroll in with me.” Alex R, Slots Reviewer
