Triple Fiesta Slot Review
Marigolds, sugar skulls, tequila bottles and pan de muerto crowd the reels of Triple Fiesta, a Day of the Dead party where the best symbol pays just 6x the line bet for five of a kind. The fiesta is the wrapping; the gift sits underneath it, and that’s where this Red Rake Gaming title has spent its design effort. Sister title Viva Fiesta worked similar ground; so did Million 777 Pot.
It runs at 95.3% RTP across 25 paylines on a 5×3 grid, and its prize ladder tops out at 1000x the total bet. Almost everything interesting happens away from the paylines. Whether that build pays off is what the rest of this comes down to.
Base Game & Features
The base game is a straightforward 5×3, 25-line setup. Wins pay left to right on active paylines, and only the highest combination per line counts. Royals A, K, Q, J and 10 fill out the low end, with themed symbols doing the heavier lifting.
The wild substitutes for other paying symbols and appears on the reels during ordinary spins. That’s the whole of its job here, and it does it without ceremony.
Symbol values are modest at the top and steeply tiered below it. The skull cake ofrenda dish is the premium symbol, followed by the tequila bottle, sombrero and marigold flower, which all pay the same. Values are multiples of the line bet:
- Skull Cake/Ofrenda dish: 3 pays 0.5x, 4 pays 2x, 5 pays 6x
- Tequila Bottle, Sombrero, Marigold Flower: 3 pays 0.3x, 4 pays 0.8x, 5 pays 2x
- Bread (Pan de Muerto): 3 pays 0.2x, 4 pays 0.4x, 5 pays 1.5x
- Taco: 3 pays 0.15x, 4 pays 0.4x, 5 pays 1.5x
- A, K, Q, J, 10: 3 pays 0.1x, 4 pays 0.2x, 5 pays 1x
Five of a kind is where the money is, and even the premium symbol only reaches 6x the line bet. Three-of-a-kind pays on the top symbol start at half the line bet, so the base game’s job is small wins and coin collection rather than anything dramatic.
The more interesting symbols don’t pay in the normal way at all. Green, blue and red skull coins land on the reels carrying cash values, and three skeletons sit above the reels, each one collecting coins of its own colour. Collecting all three colours gives a chance to trigger the bonus minigame.
Each colour unlocks a different modifier inside that minigame, so a spin that lands coins in two or three colours at once is doing more work than it looks. Any combination of the modifiers can be armed together, and each one changes the round in its own way.
Triple Fiesta Bonus Features & Minigames
The Skull Coin Minigame
The minigame is a respin collection round played on a single column of coin positions, with up to seven visible slots. You start with 3 respins, and every new golden skull coin symbol that lands resets the count back to 3. The round ends when the respins run out or every position is filled.
Golden skull coin values are multiples of the total bet, and they step up quickly at the top end:
- Standard coins: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, or 10x the total bet
- MINI: 15x the total bet
- MINOR: 50x the total bet
- MAJOR: 150x the total bet
- GRAND: 1000x the total bet, awarded for filling all 15 positions with gold coins
The MINI, MINOR and MAJOR can also arrive as a random golden skull coin carrying the prize’s name, without needing to be collected during the round. The GRAND is the only one that has to be earned the hard way, by filling the board.
Extra Spin
A blue skull coin anywhere on the triggering spin arms Extra Spin. It raises the starting respin count from 3 to 4, and during the round each new golden skull coin resets the count to 4 rather than 3. Four chances to miss instead of three sounds small; across a full collection round it adds up.
Double Reel
One or more green skull coins on the spin arms Double Reel instead. A second, independent set of reels joins the minigame from the start, and every golden skull coin is duplicated across both sets. Each set runs its own respin counter, so one side can keep running after the other has finished.
Multipliers
Red skull coins arm the Multipliers modifier, which randomly attaches values of 2x, 3x or 5x to golden skull coins on the reels. Only one multiplier can land on a given coin per spin.
If a multiplier lands on a position that already carries one, the values are added together rather than replacing each other. All multiplier values apply when the minigame ends, and while Double Reel is active, the Multipliers feature can trigger independently on each reel set.
The Skull Wheel
Before any minigame begins, you get a spin on the Skull Wheel. It can upgrade a single minigame into a double, or a double into a triple. The wheel also awards Extra Spin, Double Reel, Multipliers, additional skull coins at the start of the round, or one of the MINI, MINOR or MAJOR prizes outright.
The layering is what makes the round interesting. A single spin can arm Extra Spin, Double Reel and Multipliers together, and the Skull Wheel can then stack a second or third minigame on top. From there the multiplier rules mean coins on duplicated reels can compound well past their face values.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7/10
Playing Triple Fiesta is mostly waiting: quiet spins, small line wins, and the slow business of feeding three skeletons their coloured coins. The reason to sit through it is the round that waiting buys. When the minigame finally arrives armed with two or three modifiers, it’s a genuinely tense piece of design, and the skeletons make the patience feel like part of the party rather than a chore.
The minigame is the strength, and it earns it. Multipliers that add instead of replacing, and a Double Reel that copies every coin onto a second set of reels, mean a single round can climb well past what its coins say on their faces. The weakness is the price of admission: a paytable that tops out at 6x the line bet, on a 95.3% return that sits below most of the competition.
This is one for players who enjoy the long build towards one big collection round. It isn’t one for anyone who wants the reels themselves to pay their way between bonuses. Bring patience and a taste for marigolds, and the fiesta delivers where it counts.
