Joker Bonanza Cash Spree Slot Review
A joker in a blue-and-gold harlequin suit stands at the edge of the reels, bells on her cap, hand on hip, while dark red spirals glow orange where they meet the gold-framed cabinet. Joker Bonanza Cash Spree is a slot that pays out twice on every spin, and it’s a fair argument that the paylines are the least of it. Cash Spree symbols land alongside regular wins and pay on their own, so even a spin that misses every line can still hand something back.
Oros Gaming builds it on a 5×3 grid with 20 fixed paylines, running at 96.20% RTP and high volatility, with stakes from 0.20 to 35.00 per spin. It’s a busy family she belongs to: Lucky Bonanza Cash Spree, Cash Spree Pegasus II and the rest, a line whose lean paytables we noted when covering Cash Spree Dragon. Her grin promises a bonanza. The reels don’t always agree.
Base Game & Features
Payline wins run left to right from the first reel, and matching symbols need to land adjacently on a payline to count. If more than one winning combination lands on a single line, only the highest pays. Only the highest winning combination is awarded per symbol combination, too.
The total payout for a spin draws on every system at once. A single spin can pay out through all of these at the same time:
- Payline wins from matching symbols
- Cash Spree symbol wins
- Wheel Bonus prizes
- Free Spin symbol wins
The wild substitutes for other symbols to complete winning combinations and can form its own. It won’t stand in for four members of the special set:
- Multiplier
- Wheel Trigger
- Cash Spree
- Free Spin
The hit rate sits at 34.42%, so a little over a third of spins return something. That leaves long stretches of nothing in between, which is standard behaviour for a high volatility build.
Mystery Selection
A designated section of the reels picks a symbol every spin and changes into it. The exceptions are Multiplier, Wheel Trigger and Free Spin symbols, which it can’t become. It displays as a Mystery symbol when it’s about to reveal a Wild or a Cash Spree symbol.
That display is the tell worth watching. Those two reveals are the ones that matter, and knowing what’s coming a moment early is the only real information this mechanic gives you.
Cash Spree Symbols
The feature triggers when Cash Spree symbols land starting on reels 1 and 2. They carry either fixed cash values or one of the five jackpot tiers, and the reels split the work between them:
- Grand: top of the ladder, reels 4 and 5 only
- Mega: second tier, reels 4 and 5 only
- Major: mid tier, reels 4 and 5 only
- Minor and Mini: the lower tiers, also reels 4 and 5 only
- Cash values: all reels, with the higher values on reels 4 and 5
All Cash Spree symbols pay left to right on adjacent reels, and those wins are added to any payline wins from the same spin. It’s a collecting mechanic rather than a hold-and-win grid: no respins, no filling meters, just cash landing in sequence from the left and paying on the spot.
Because the tiers only exist on the last two reels, a Grand or Mega hit always needs the run to reach across from reel 1. The bigger the prize, the further it has to travel.
Joker Bonanza Cash Spree Bonus Features
Wheel Bonus
Collect a Wheel Trigger symbol and there’s a chance the Wheel Bonus fires. Five prizes sit on the wheel in wedges: Grand, Mega, Major, Minor and Mini. Wherever the pointer stops, that wedge is paid.
The collect animation is for show; it doesn’t influence the award. The trigger has limits, too: it can’t land alongside Mystery, Free Spins or Cash Spree symbols, and it only exists in the base game.
It also can’t fire on a spin that triggers Free Spins. Two doors to the same ladder, but you can’t walk through both at once.
Free Spins
Three Free Spin symbols scattered anywhere on the reels start the Free Spins Wheel, and the wedge it lands on sets the number of spins. Free Spin symbols appear on reels 2, 3 and 4. The round then runs like this:
- The Free Spins Wheel stops and awards its wedge of spins
- Spins play out at the bet and lines of the triggering spin
- Multiplier symbols that land each raise the Free Spins Multiplier by 0.5x
- Three more scattered Free Spin symbols retrigger the round, matching the initial award
- Wins are added to base game wins and paid when the round ends
Wins awarded during the round are added to base game wins, and the retrigger is where a modest wedge grows teeth: land three more scatters and the whole batch arrives again, at the same size as the first.
Free Spins Multiplier
Every Multiplier symbol that appears during the round bumps the Free Spins Multiplier up by 0.5x, to a ceiling of 10x. The meter is on display throughout, so the build is visible rather than implied.
The multiplier applies to all free spins wins except the Free Spins Wheel, Grand and Mega prizes, so the top two tiers sit outside it. Multiplier symbols can’t land on the triggering spin, on Free Spins symbols or on Mystery symbols.
Once the round finishes, the meter resets to between 1x and 4x. Those half-point steps are the only thing that scales the middle of this game’s payouts, which makes every Multiplier symbol that lands quietly valuable.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.1/10
Sessions here are quiet punctuated by the odd flurry: the joker grins from the sideline while you grind small line wins and hope reels 4 and 5 bring something worth her attention. The reason to choose it over a plainer classic is that second win stream. Cash landing from the left, paying regardless of the paylines, makes even the dead stretches feel less final than they are.
The best thing here is the free spins build. Half-point steps to a 10x ceiling with retriggers that repeat the original award is a genuinely generous ceiling for a round this easy to re-enter. The flaw is that the two biggest prizes stand outside that multiplier entirely, so the mechanic that scales everything else can’t touch the wins you most want scaled.
This is one for jackpot hunters on a small stake who don’t mind a thin line game while they wait. If it’s regular meaty payline wins you’re after, this carnival isn’t running that ride. But if watching a wheel decide your fate sounds like a good evening, she’ll deal you in.
