Temple of Iris Slot Review
Twilight settles over an Egyptian temple, the sky fading from star-flecked blue down to warm desert gold, with a hot magenta banner shouting the game’s name across the top of it. Temple of Iris is the better for ignoring everything slots have learned since.
It’s an Eyecon 25-liner with one bonus round, and that single-mindedness is precisely why it still works. Under the gloss sits a 5×3 grid with 25 paylines, a 95.436% RTP, and a free games round that triples every prize it pays.
It’s simple, direct fare in the lineage of Fluffy Favourites and Enchanted Prince, with Irish Luck sitting in the same family. No apology is offered for any of it, and none is needed.
Base Game & Features
Temple of Iris runs on five reels and three rows, with wins forming across 25 fixed paylines. All line wins pay left to right, and only the best combination counts on each one. Line wins are multiplied by the wager per payline, while wins on different lines are added together.
Scatters behave differently. The Pyramid pays scattered, in any position, with wins multiplied by the total wager rather than the line stake. For each scatter combination, only the highest scatter win is added on top of the line wins, so a screen full of Pyramids still returns one scatter prize rather than several stacked together.
The symbol ladder splits into three bands. The Egyptian icons, led by the Scarab and the Eye of Horus, occupy the top, the Cobra and the Cat statue fill the middle, and the card royals from A down to 9 bring up the rear. Each pair of royals shares one set of values, so there’s no dead weight at the bottom of the table.
The Priestess is the substitute, standing in for every symbol except the scattered Pyramid, and any line win she appears in pays double. That doubling applies to her own wins too, which is what makes her the richest symbol on the reels by a wide distance.
All paytable values below are multiples of the total bet:
- Priestess (substitute): five pay 19,000x, four pay 4,000x, three pay 400x, two pay 20x
- Pyramid (scatter): five pay 900x, four pay 40x, three pay 10x, two pay 4x
- Scarab and Eye of Horus: five pay 1,900x, four pay 300x, three pay 50x, two pay 4x
- Cobra: five pay 900x, four pay 200x, three pay 40x, two pay 4x
- Cat statue and Ankh: five pay 500x, four pay 150x, three pay 20x, two pay 4x
- A and K: five pay 250x, four pay 50x, three pay 20x
- Q and J: five pay 200x, four pay 40x, three pay 10x
- 10 and 9: five pay 200x, four pay 30x, three pay 10x
Two things stand out about that ladder. The royals aren’t decoration here; a full line of A or K carries genuine weight for a low-tier symbol, and the bottom pair isn’t far behind. And the Priestess sits so far above everything else that she effectively sets the game’s ceiling, since no other win comes close to her top prize.
The gaps between bands are steep, and they don’t flatten out until the royals. Two-of-a-kind wins exist only on the premium symbols and the Priestess, so the royals need at least three to pay anything at all.
Autoplay is built in. Options run from 10 up to 100 automatic spins, with a loss limit that can be set before a session starts to cap how far a run can go against you. A single press stops the whole thing manually at any point. The loss limit is the one part worth using before a longer run.
Temple of Iris Bonus Features & Free Spins
Free Games are the only feature, and the slot is built entirely around them. Land three or more scattered Pyramids anywhere on the reels and 15 Free Games begin, played on the same paylines and at the same wager as the triggering spin.
- Trigger: three or more scattered Pyramid symbols, anywhere
- Award: 15 Free Games
- All prizes tripled during the round
- Retrigger: yes, up to a maximum of 15 times
The round runs in a straight line once it starts. Every prize the reels produce during free games is tripled, the same 25 paylines and the same wager carry over, and the Priestess keeps substituting exactly as she does in the base game. There’s no wheel to spin and no picks to make; the feature is the multiplier, nothing more and nothing less.
Retriggers are where the round can grow. Land another three or more Pyramids mid-round and a fresh batch of 15 free games is added, up to that ceiling of 15 retrigger events. In principle a single bonus could stretch well past 200 spins, though each retrigger needs its own scatter landing to keep the run alive.
The scatter pays keep working during the round too. Pyramids landing mid-feature pay their scattered win as normal, multiplied by the total wager, on top of whatever the lines produce. It means a retriggering spin can pay twice over: once for the scatters themselves and once for whatever the added spins go on to deliver.
With the Priestess doubling line wins on top of the triple, a decent run of free games can stack multiples quickly. The two multipliers apply together, so a Priestess-assisted win during the round pays six times its base value before anything else is counted. Her own top prize, tripled, is where the round’s real money sits.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 6.9/10
Playing Temple of Iris is a patient business: the base game grinds along in small line wins, and the whole point of sitting down at this temple is the free games round hiding behind it. Somebody chooses this game for that round and nothing else, which is an honest enough reason.
Its strength is the multipliers stacking cleanly: tripled prizes, doubled Priestess wins and fifteen retriggers of headroom, all pulling in the same direction without a single gimmick diluting them. Its weakness is everything around that round: the airbrushed gloss dates it badly, and if the scatters stay away, there’s very little here to hold a session together.
This suits punters who like their slots plain, warm and old-fashioned, the Fluffy Favourites crowd especially. Anyone chasing layered features and modern presentation will find the torches burned out long ago. For the rest, the temple doors are still open.
