Jekyllz Wild UltraNudge Slot Review
A pale full moon hangs over a brick laboratory, glass retorts and glowing green canisters crowding the shadows of a room where something is about to go very wrong. Jekyllz Wild UltraNudge, Bang Bang Games‘ gothic spin on the cash-on-reels format, bets everything on one moment: a wild transforming mid-streak and the whole grid dropping into a paying chain. Strip that away and there’s very little left, which is a bolder piece of design than it first looks.
The game runs on a 5×4 grid with 40 paylines, a 96% RTP and medium-high volatility, with a hit frequency of 20.8% and a default prize ceiling of 5,551x the maximum bet. It shares its nudge mechanic with Caribbean Catch UltraNudge and Jokrz Wild Ultranudge GigaBlox, but the potion-collecting Hyde twist gives this one a flavour of its own.
Symbols, Wilds and Line Pays
Wins land across 40 fixed paylines, and potions do double duty: they pay as the fifth highest symbol on the reel set while also carrying cash values of between 0.2x and 50x the total stake. Those cash values only pay out when a Mr Hyde Wild is on the grid to collect them.
Premium and low symbols fill out the rest of the reel set, with all values below quoted at the game’s default stake of 2. Paytable values are fixed multipliers of that stake rather than of the current bet, so a higher or lower bet scales every figure proportionally.
- Top symbol: five pays 5.00, four pays 0.80, three pays 0.30
- Second symbol: five pays 2.50, four pays 0.60, three pays 0.25
- Third symbol: five pays 1.50, four pays 0.50, three pays 0.20
- Fourth symbol: five pays 1.50, four pays 0.50, three pays 0.20
- Fifth symbol (potions): five pays 1.00, four pays 0.40, three pays 0.15
- Sixth symbol: five pays 1.00, four pays 0.40, three pays 0.15
- Seventh symbol: five pays 1.00, four pays 0.40, three pays 0.15
- Low symbols: five pay 0.80, four pay 0.30, three pay 0.10
The Dr Jekyll Wild substitutes for other symbols and is the key to everything else the game does: any line win that includes him sets the nudge engine running. The Mr Hyde Wild does the same job on lines, but he also hoovers up every potion cash value in view.
There’s a fifth special on the reels: the BONUS diamond, which lands during spins and nudges alike and counts towards the free spins trigger.
ULTRANUDGE
ULTRANUDGE is the mechanic the whole game is built around. Any win that includes either wild, including potion cash collections, pays out and then every symbol on the grid nudges down by one position. New wins formed by the nudge pay again, and the streak keeps going until a nudge produces no win at all.
The order of events inside a streak never changes. First the win pays, then the nudge happens, then the new grid is checked. Wilds nudged off the bottom of the screen are gone, but symbols nudged down from above bring fresh chances, and stacked symbols can keep a payline live for several consecutive nudges.
Because wilds and symbol stacks are common on these reels, a single trigger can chain several pays together. One wild in the right spot is all it takes. The mechanic behaves differently in the free spins round, where every win, wild or not, starts the streak.
Mr Hyde and Potion Cash
On any spin or nudge, a Dr Jekyll Wild can randomly transform into Mr Hyde and collect all the Potion Cash in view. That collection triggers or continues an ULTRANUDGE: symbols drop a position, line wins pay, and then each Mr Hyde Wild in view increases its multiplier by one and collects any visible potion cash again.
The payout is the total potion cash on screen multiplied by the combined Mr Hyde multipliers. So a chain of nudges with several Hydes standing can climb quickly, each pass of the grid paying more than the last.
There’s also a chance for new or existing Jekyll Wilds to turn into Hyde mid-streak and join the collection. Once a wild becomes Hyde, he stays that way until the round ends or he’s nudged off the grid, which is what allows multipliers to build over a long streak.
Mr Hyde Free Spins and Hyde’s Gamble
Collecting three BONUS diamond symbols in a single game round awards 12 free spins once that round finishes, and diamonds collected during nudges count towards the total. Inside the round, the rules shift in your favour in three ways:
- Every win starts an ULTRANUDGE, wild or not
- Mr Hyde multipliers never reset for the whole round
- Three more diamonds in one round awards an additional 12 free spins
That non-resetting multiplier is what the round is really selling. A Hyde that’s been through a long nudge chain carries his multiplier into every later win of the bonus, so a slow start can still finish strong if he stays on the grid.
Hyde’s Gamble lets you push it further, starting Mr Hyde at a x10 multiplier during free spins to supercharge the potion values from the first spin.
Two buy options are available, regular and Mega, alongside a Bonus Boost that raises the odds of triggering the round and adds three free spins to the award. The boost changes the value of the round as well as its likelihood, so it’s more than a simple odds adjustment.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.2/10
Sitting in Jekyll’s moonlit laboratory, most of what happens is quiet: small line wins, potions glowing uncollected, the good doctor doing nothing in particular. Then a wild turns, the grid starts dropping, and the game you actually came for shows up. That transformation into a paying chain is the entire appeal, and it’s a good one.
Free spins are the best thing here, because multipliers that never reset mean a bonus can go almost nowhere for five spins and still finish huge. It’s a genuinely generous structure. The cost is everything outside it: the base paytable is feeble, and a session without a Hyde transformation is just a pretty screen taking your money slowly.
This is one for players who like cash-on-reels games and don’t mind waiting for the potion to take effect. Anyone who wants steady pays from the off will find the wait grim. When the transformation lands, though, this laboratory pays like few rooms in Bang Bang’s catalogue.
